The short version
Deskgrain takes part in affiliate programmes. If you follow certain links from a review to a manufacturer or retailer and buy something, we may be paid a small commission by that seller. You pay the same price either way; the commission comes out of the seller's margin, not your pocket.
That money funds the desks, chairs and monitor arms we buy at retail so we do not have to rely on manufacturers lending them to us. It does not buy a score, a recommendation or a place in a ranking.
Which links earn us anything
Most product links on this site point at the manufacturer's own page so you can check the current configuration and price at the source. A subset of those, and some retailer links, carry an affiliate tag.
- Where a link in a review can earn us a commission, the review says so in the text near the link — not only here.
- Links to specifications, manuals, warranty documents, safety notices and other reviews never carry an affiliate tag.
- We do not use affiliate links inside corrections or safety warnings.
How we keep it out of the score
The score is set before anyone looks at whether a product has an affiliate programme, and it is never revisited because of one. Nothing is added to a shortlist because it pays better, and nothing is left out because it pays nothing — plenty of the hardware we recommend has no programme at all.
Commission rates are not shared with the person writing the review, and no writer's pay depends on what a review earns. If two products score the same, the tie is broken on the merits and the review says how.
What we will not do
We do not publish sponsored reviews, do not sell placement in a ranking, and do not accept payment to remove criticism. A seller cannot buy an affiliate link into a review that would not otherwise recommend the product.
We also do not hide the arrangement in a footnote. If you can find a paragraph where a commercial relationship is not disclosed and should be, tell us and we will correct it under our corrections policy.
Prices, stock and your own checks
Prices and availability at the other end of a link change without warning, and an affiliate link does not give us any control over them. Always check the price, the exact configuration and the warranty terms on the seller's page before you buy — the number in a review is the list price at the time of writing.
